One-Tank Trips
From Chicago, you can get to the northern suburbs very easily. Tour Northwestern University along Lake Michigan in Evanston, or visit one of the amazing museums in Madison or Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Also, within about a tank of gas in southern Wisconsin and you can spend the day touring orchards or visiting such famous sights as the Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer brewery in Milwaukee. When the weather is good, you can go boating on beautiful Lake Geneva. Or try an RV Resort to stay in overnight with names like Moose Jaw, Musky Tale or Edge-O-Dells for your one-tank trip.
National Parks / National Historic Sites near Chicago, IL
The Lincoln Home National Historic Site in Springfield (192 miles) is a popular destination for many of El Monte RV rental customers. Visit the Pullman National Monument in Chicago which was a planned industrial community on the far south side of Chicago, built in the 1880’s and famed for its urban design and architecture.
National Forests near Chicago, IL
There are many campgrounds to park in, trails to walk, picnic areas to enjoy and scenery to photograph at the Shawnee National Forest. This is a bit more of a trek, located just past Marion off I-57 in southern Illinois.
State Parks near Chicago, IL
You can enjoy Mother Nature with all the comforts of home available to you when you visit the Lewis and Clark State Memorial Park (284 miles) or the Illinois Beach State Park (50 miles), two of our favorite destinations.
Plann on spending a night under the stars at White Pines Forest State Park (95 miles) or Kankakee River State Park (63 miles). Drive to Red Hills State Park (328 miles) if you are interesting in a longer stretch, but there is so much to see as you and your companions travel down the road in style.
Illinois lakes and rivers are beautiful and can be found all over the state. El Monte RV’s customers travel regularly in their motorhomes to Lake Michigan, Illinois River, Mississippi River, Lake Shelbyville, Carlyle Lake, Rend Lake and Crab Orchard Lake.
Local Attractions / Amusement and Theme Parks
Zoos are always a favorite spot for both children and adults. Traveling to each of these three in your RV rental just makes it better. Check out the Henson Robinson Zoo in Springfield, or the Lincoln Park Zoo and Brookfield Zoo in Chicago.
