Bien, pero con muy poca explicación en Español, especialmente en los seguros tienen que haber empleados calificados en ambos idiomas.

Plus: Staff were really friendly, they were helpful and told us a lot of useful things about the RV, because this was out first rental. Neg: The rental place is not very convincing, its quite dirty, we even saw roaches and a rat. The 26ft Sunseeker we rented was in OK condition. There were some minor damage to the inside but it was mainly aesthetic damage.

One-Tank Trips

One-Tank Trips

From Miami, you can drive just a few hours to see much of the South Florida landscape. Enjoy sightseeing from the comfort of your RV and easily find a park or campsite to stay in overnight.  From where you pick up your El Monte RV in Princeton, it is a short drive south to Homestead and Florida City, from where you drive south and west to enter Everglades National Park. This park, the largest subtropical wilderness in the US, is truly a “river of grass” and one of the most unusual of our National Parks. When you tire of gawking over the alligators and anhingas hanging out their wings to dry, drive north or south, as you please. Going south and west you will find the Florida Keys with an abundance of wildlife and fishing that will satisfy the most avid fishermen.

Or drive a bit north and east and visit Fort Lauderdale and enjoy beautiful Atlantic beaches along the coast for miles and miles.

Or, try a little excursion into downtown Miami and Miami Beach and you won’t be disappointed at the variety of foods and architecture from all the diverse cultures that comprise Miami, a 21st century, fully cosmopolitan city.

If you were wondering where you could ride on an Airboat and perhaps see even more alligators, go west on US 41 from 8th Street in Miami and drive out to many places the Miccosukee call home. There are plenty of sights to see, including alligator wrestling, airboat rides and amazing authentic Miccosukee food establishments as well.

National Parks / National Historic Monuments near Miami

National Parks / National Historic Monuments near Miami

Florida’s landscape differs from the rest of the country. To see an excellent example of its diversity, as we mentioned above, don’t miss a visit to Everglades National Park. You won’t be disappointed. With so many species of wildlife, fishing and camping locations, you won’t be bored or lack for things to do! Spend an evening sitting around the campfire relaxing with your family or friends and then retire to your RV rental for a good night’s rest.

In addition to the Everglades, you can visit Biscayne National Park, right off Miami or venture south and west to Key West and grab a boat ride to take you to Dry Tortugas National Park, offshore by about 70 miles from Key West. The Dry Tortugas comprises 100-square mile park of mostly open water with seven small islands. Accessible only by boat or seaplane, the park is known the world over as the home of magnificent Fort Jefferson, picturesque blue waters, superlative coral reefs and marine life, and a wide assortment of bird life that frequents the area.

National Forests / National Preserves near Miami

National Forests / National Preserves near Miami

Big Cypress National Preserve takes up much of the middle of the southern tip of the state and provides a swamp that is vital to the health of the neighboring Everglades. It supports the rich marine estuaries along Florida’s southwest coast and comprises more than 729,000 acres of swamp lands. You can experience it from either Route 41 (the Tamiami Trail) or I-75, both of which cross the state east to west.

State Parks near Miami

State Parks near Miami

There are so many State Parks in Florida (174 in total) that it is hard to name them all. We’ll just highlight a few of them close to Miami. Bahia Honda State Park is located in the lower Keys and about a 40-minute drive from Key West. This park is right on the water with campsites looking out over the Atlantic. The beach is shallow and very safe for swimming and water sports.

The Oleta River State Park is only a short drive from Miami and is home to 15 miles of off-road bicycling trails and plenty of room for paddling along lush mangrove forests. Visitors find it difficult to believe that Oleta River State Park exists 30 minutes from downtown Miami, in North Miami Beach. At just over a thousand acres, this natural oasis — Florida’s largest urban park — is a haven for mountain bikers, paddlers, anglers and swimmers. Enjoy a picnic along scenic Biscayne Bay or unwind at the end of a fishing pole.

Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park offers visitors breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay from atop the historic 1825 Cape Florida Lighthouse. It is only a very short drive from Miami on Key Biscayne.

Bahia Honda State Park, on Big Pine Key is one of at least ten parks in the Florida Keys, some of which are open for day use only. Bahia Honda’s seafront state park features with activities such as snorkeling, camping & kayaking. There are at least two more worthy of checking out when you drive to the Keys. John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park and Long Key State Park are both truly remarkable. The small aquarium at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park gives visitors a taste of what it is like to dive down to the bottom of the reef, without even having to get wet! And Long Key is in the process of being renovated after 2017 storms destroyed their oceanfront cabins, but still offers campers walk in camping and a beautiful place for a day trip for fishing, kayaking, canoeing, etc.

Just a few of the other State Parks all around the state include: Alafia River State Park, John and Manatee Springs State Park.

Local Attractions / Amusement and Theme Parks

Local Attractions / Amusement and Theme Parks

Of course, everyone knows the major theme parks in Orlando, including Disney World, Universal Studios and Sea World, but there are many more attractions in the Miami area.

Rapids Water Park in West Palm Beach, is a great place to go and cool off for the day. And, if your family loves animals, Zoo Miami, off the expressway at SW 152nd Street is well worth a visit. In addition, one of Florida’s oldest marine attractions is The Miami Seaquarium on Biscayne Causeway towards Key Biscayne. See world-class sea life exhibits with manatees, sea turtles, penguins, rays and more. Learn about wildlife rescue and marine animal care at the Conservation Outpost. Plus, there is no greater thrill than getting in the water with the friendly, intelligent and graceful dolphins at Dolphin Harbor.

If you are in the humor to take a bit of a bigger drive north, you can stay on I-95 and drive to Cocoa Beach to see the Kennedy Space Center & Astronaut Hall of Fame, another not-to-be-missed Florida attraction about astronauts and space exploration. It is about a 3-hour drive from Miami or you can stop and take your time to visit Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Jensen Beach, Merritt Island and Hutchinson Island along the way.

You’ll likely find that the best way to see all the sights in south Florida and to experience your real Florida adventures is by traveling and staying in your El Monte RV motorhome.
